Carmen Gloria Quintana Arancibia (born c.
1968) is a
Chilean woman who suffered severe, almost fatal burns in an incident where she and other youngsters were detained by an army patrol during a street demonstration against the dictatorship of
Augusto Pinochet. She survived, and thereafter became a symbol of hope for democracy in Chile. (see "
Burnt Alive Case")
Trivia
Inspired by the impressive speech Carmen gave at the Mozes en Aäron kerk (Moses and Aaron church) in Amsterdam, Dutch composer and guitarist Harry Sacksioni dedicated the song "De stoet der vermisten" ("Array of the Missing") to her and her friend Rodrigo Rojas DeNegri.
