Carignan is a town in southwestern Quebec, Canada on the Richelieu River in the Regional County Municipality of La-Vallée-du-Richelieu. People have lived in Carignan since 1855, but Carignan was incorporated as a city in 1965.
The population of Carignan was 7,426 as of 2006, a 25.5% gain since 2001. The city's area is 62.31 km², giving it a density of 119.2 persons per km².
