Wikipedia

Calpinae is a subfamily of moth family Noctuidae. It is closely related to the Catocalinae; both subfamilies contain large species with wingspans larger than 5 centimetres (2 in).

The status of this subfamily is somewhat disputed; it is sometimes merged into the Catocalinae. Most of the calpine genera are not further classified; the phylogenetic structure of this group is essentially unresolved, and in many cases it is even doubtful whether the genera are indeed correctly placed in this subfamily.
