The Formula Ford Junior Championship single seater category is famous throughout the world of motor sport and gives many racing drivers their first step into car racing after go-karts. The British Formula Ford Championship is regarded as the best in the world, with drivers from across the world moving to Britain to compete.

There is also a Formula Ford Festival race at Brands Hatch, where drivers from other Formula Ford categories from all over the world come and compete.

The car

All the cars use a Ford engine. Teams can chose from different chassis manufacterers like Van Diemen and Mygale. To keep the costs low, the cars are made from steel. They use the 1600cc DOHC Ford Duratec engine. They use Avon slicks.
