The
blackspotted catshark,
Halaelurus buergeri, is a
cat shark of the
family Scyliorhinidae, found from
Japan,
Korea,
China, and
Taiwan between
latitudes 39° N and 20° N, at depths of between 80 and 100
m. Its length is up to 49
cm.
The blackspotted catshark is found on the
continental shelf in the sublittoral zone above 100 m.
Reproduction is oviparous, but with several egg-capsules retained in the oviduct until the embryos reach an advanced stage before they are laid which might be regarded as being intermediate between oviparity and ovoviviparity.
