Brogan is a Gaelic football player who plays inter-county football with Dublin and his club football for St Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Ruadh.Bernard Brogan is the son of former all-Ireland winning and allstar player Bernard Brogan and is the brother of current Dublin players Alan Brogan and Paul Brogan. His uncle Jim Brogan was also an inter county footballer for Dublin. Bernard won the 2006 Sigerson Cup with DCU, he scored a one point in the game against Queens University Belfast. Bernard was on the 2006 Plunketts team that won the Dublin Division Two League title with a win over Garda. Brogan was named on the 2006 Dublin Bus/Evening Herald Blue Star football XV at left corner forward.
It has been said that Bernard's rise to the Dublin senior football panel came at the expense of good friend Alan Cosgrave. Alan had sought a transfer from Wexford but a plethora of half forwards within the Dublin panel meant Pillar Caffrey declined the Wexford's man's offer to join the panel for the 2008/09 season. Cosgrave has vowed to win a place in the Dublin faithful's hearts and with a new manager to be appointed Dublin could well have a new poster boy for the upcoming championship season.
Disgruntled sources within the Wexford camp have suggested that a "fat cheque book" would be the deciding factor behind the proposed transfer however both Alan and most notably Mario have strongly refuted any such allegations.
Bernard also hopes that one day he can manage Dublin to win an AllIreland Final.
