Baihetan Dam is a large dam under construction on the Jisha River, a tributary of the Yangtze River in Sichuan and Yunnan Province Southwest of China. It will have 14 generators, each with generating capacity of 1,000 MW for a total generating capacity of 14,000 MW.In terms generating capacity, it will be the second largest hydroelectric powerplant in the world, the same as Itaipu. When finished,in terms dam volumn, it will be the third largest dam in China and the fourth in the world.

Construction of the road to the dam has already started; construction on the dam will start in 2009 and is scheduled to be completed in 2015.
