arabian desert

The Arabian Desert is a vast desert wilderness located in western Asia, stretching across eight countries, including Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Jordan, Oman, Qatar, Yemen and the United Arab Eremites. It occupies most of the Arabian Peninsula, with an area of 900,000 square miles.

The climate is extremely dry, and temperatures oscillate between extreme heat and seasonal night time freezes. Although a few plants survive in these conditions, the region lacks much biodiversity, with most animal species surviving only in habitats.

The area is rich in oil, natural gas, phosphates and sulfur, proving prosperous for the region, particularly Saudi Arabia, where a majority of the desert is located. The region is known for its political volatility and parts remain in a near constant state of war.
