- optic chiasm and optic tract
- internal capsule
- lateral geniculate body
- globus pallidus
- tail of the caudate nucleus
- hippocampus

Disorders
More investigation is required to determine the full extent of the damage caused by occlusion of this artery. However, studies do show that interruption of this vessel's blood flow can result in hemiplegia on the opposite side of the body (contralateral), contralateral hemihypesthesia, and homonymous hemianopia.
These symptoms are thought to arise from ischemic damage to the posterior limb of the internal capsule.
