Animus

Psychology
- Anima and animus, Carl Jung's school of analytical psychology, both one's "true self" as well as the masculine side of a female's unconscious mind; contrasted with anima for males.
Also thought of as a Daemon or a person's soul in an animal form. These you can see and talk to physically in Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials. In our world it is thought to be possible to see and speak to your Daemon in the unconcious part of your mind. Your Daemon changes until puberty or later but not too much. It settles into something that resembles your nature and personality. You name your Daemon, and you give it a voice according to gender. As far as gender goes, you choose the gender but usually it is the opposite sex, but whatever feels comfortable. When you have and argument in your head or your little cricket conscience tells you something, it is your Daemon and it might be your voice but if you correct your self enough it will naturally start to evolve into the voice of your Daemon.
