Amjad Ali Shah

Najmud-Daulah Abul Muzaffar Musleh-uddin Suraiya Jah Sipahr Shikoh Sultan-e Adil Khaqani Zaman Muhammad AMJAD ALI SHAH Jannat Makaan was 5th King of Awadh from 1842 to 1847.

He was son of Muhammad Ali Shah.

Amjad Ali Shah tooked rein in May 1842. He erected Iron Bridge over river Gomti and consytructed road from Lucknow to Kanpur which still follows the same route. He also built Hazratganj the great european style market. The great Aminabad Bazar and a Serai at Kanpur road were constructed by his minister Amin-ud-Daula.

Nawab Amjad Ali Shahalso to build the Shrines of Syedna Muslim and Hani, at Kufah.

He died due to cancer on February 13, 1847 at the age of 48 years. He is buried at Imambara Sibtainabad in the western part of Hazratganj, Lucknow. He was succeded by his son Wajid Ali Shah.
