Alejandro Freire

Alejandro Freire /ˈfɾeɾe/ (born August 23, 1974 in Caracas, Venezuela) is a former first baseman in Major League Baseball who played for the Baltimore Orioles. He bats and throws right-handed.

Freire made his major league debut with the Orioles on August 9, . He was promoted after hit .299 with 19 home runs and 69 RBI in 106 games for the Triple-A Ottawa Lynx. At age 31, it had been a long way for Freire, who spent 14 seasons in the minors playing for the Astros, Tigers, Cardinals, Giants and Orioles systems.

In 25 games Freire hit .246 (16-for-65) with one home run and four RBI.

Following his majors stint, Freire returned to Triple-A Ottawa and also has played in the Venezuela Winter League.
