Adswood tip

Adswood Eco Centre and the Adswood tip are a civic amenity centre and closed landfill between Adswood and Cheadle Hulme in Greater Manchester, England.

They are bordered by the Lady Brook (Micker Brook) and Seven Arches Railway Viaduct, part of the West Coast Main Line. There has been plans to transform the site into an airpark (car park) for Manchester Airport. Adswood Ecocentre is on a waste management site licensed to take asbestos waste for the Stockport area. Adswood Ecocentre has a distinctive salt storage building visible from passing trains.

Adswood Eco Centre was opened in May 1997 when it was estimated that it would dispose of over 10,000 tonnes of waste each year, with at least 40% of the rubbish recycled. The Ecocentre was part of Stockport's successful bid to become a 'Beacon Council' for waste management in the UK.

The tip is easy to reach, take a right immediately after crossing the Brook (by road) when heading into adswood, heading out of adswood the turn is signposted 'Adswood Eco Centre'.
