Abia
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Cite This SourceAbia is the mother of Hezekiah, King of Judah. (2 Chronicles Chapter 29, Verse 1) A variant tradition records her name as Abi. (2 Kings Chapter 18, Verse 2) Abia is translated from Hebrew as "My father is the Lord" or "God is my father."
In the New Testament, the Greek form is Abijah, or Abijam (Matthew Chapter 1, Verse 7), instead of Abiah (1 Chronicles Chapter 7, Verse 8). In Luke Luke Chapter 1, Verse 5, the name refers to the head of the eighth of the twenty-four courses into which David divided the priests (1 Chronicles Chapter 24, Verse 10).
