Abd al-Rahman Sanchuelo

Abd al-Rahman Sanchuelo (983 – 1009), born and died in Córdoba, was the son of Almanzor and chief minister of Hisham II, Caliph of Córdoba.

His mother was Abda (born Urraca), daughter of Sancho II of Pamplona, after whom he was named; Sanchuelo (Shanjoul) being the dimunitive of Sancho.

The caliph designated him as his heir and the population of Córdoba rose against him. Led by Muhammad II al-Mahdi, they assassinated him.
