The second Mediterranean Games were held in the Olympic Stadium of Barcelona, from July 16 to 25, 1955. It was built in 1929 and was especially improved for the occasion. In 1992 this Stadium held the 1992 Summer Olympics. The symbol of an amphora filled with Mediterranean Sea water was then used for the first time.
The number of participants reached 900 (all men). In the medals table France was first on the podium, Italy second and Egypt came third.
Medal table
The rankings sort by the number of gold medals earned by a country. The number of silvers is taken into consideration next and then the number of bronze.
