Traced in Air is the second full-length album by the progressive/technical death metal fusion band Cynic. It is the first album since their 1993 debut Focus.
Cynic disbanded during the fall of 1994 while working on the album.
In January 17, Cynic resumed musical activity and Paul Masividal said he wanted to complete the project after the Reunion Tour.
It was originally believed that Cynic would be working with Jason Suecof of Capharnaum fame. They released a live recording of a new song which they recorded for the album, "Evolutionary Sleeper" for Digital Download in 2007.
Tymon Kruidenier was then announced as replacement for Senescu. Kruidenier will also be handling the death growls for the album.
On July 19, 2008, Cynic announced through YouTube that the album's name is "Traced in Air".
In 2008, Terrorizer magazine confirmed Cynic will embark on a 2009 Cynic/Possessed Tour with newly reformed death metal band Possessed in mid-2009.
Paul Masvidal announced in 2008 in an interview with Kerrang! magazine that the band were including two unreleased songs from when the band were working on the album in 1994, into the album.
