Oris is a brand of Swiss wristwatches. The Oris watch factory was founded by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian at Hölstein (Basel-Country) in 1904. Oris are well known for producing only mechanical watches.

In 1968 Oris obtained full chronometer certification from the Neuchâtel Observatory for movement cal.652.

In 2003 Oris signed an agreement to become the sole supplier of watches to the BMW Williams Formula 1 Team. The Oris Limited Edition Williams F1 Team Chronograph was the most successful Oris watch in 2003.

Collection

Within their Culture family they are famous for producing their jazz watches. These include models such as the recently introduced Dizzy Gillespie limited edition. Other watches within this subsection are watches named after Leonhard Euler and Frank Sinatra.

Oris watches in film

• Keanu Reeves wore an Oris watch in the 2005 film Constantine.
• Oris watches are seen on the starring actors of A Time to Kill, as both Matthew McConaughey and Oliver Platt sport the watches.
• An Oris diver's watch is also seen being worn by Pierce Brosnan in the 2004 film After the Sunset.
• Oris watches were also present in two episodes of The Sopranos: "Luxury Lounge", in a scene where an Oris representative was present in the aforementioned lounge; and "Moe n' Joe", in which Vito Spatafore, while in hiding in New Hampshire, wore an Oris watch.
