The zebra top shell, Austrocochlea porcata, is a medium-sized sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Trochidae, the top snails or top shells.
This species is very common in south-eastern Australia
, and its complete range extends from Townsville in Queensland
around southern shores to Geraldton
in Western Australia.
Zebra top shells have a black-and-white banded pattern overlying a light grey to white shell. The shell of this species is very similar to the southern ribbed top shell, Austrocochlea constricta
, and until recently the two species were considered to be identical.
