The Univox Hi-Flier was a guitar manufactured by Univox and Unicord from 1968-1978. It had a very similar appearance to the Mosrite Ventures guitar, though was somewhat different (and much cheaper). It is the first guitar Univox manufactured and was produced as long as the company existed.
The Hi-Flier went through many changes, and is known as having four phases.
It was originally available in only orange sunburst and a very rare black which had a plastic logo. It came with a tortoise shell pickguard, two 3-way rocker switches, and P-90
-style single coil
A new design emerged, bearing a different logo, different pickup switch, pots, and a different colored pickguard. It now came in suburst, black, and white.
By 1976 the guitar now came with humbuckers
, as well as now coming in natural. It had slightly different pots. This is the most common type.
The Hi-Flier now featured a stoptail bridge.
