All About You (film)

All About You is a 2001 African American romantic comedy written and directed by Christine Swanson, produced by Michael Swanson and starring Renee Elise Goldsberry and Terron Brooks.

All About You was filmed in 28 days on location in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Napa Valley, California, USA. As this is a romantic comedy, the Swansons, a married team, began principal photography on the film on Valentine’s Day, February 14th. Director Christine Swanson was pregnant with the couple's first child during the entire filming process.

The film was produced by Faith Filmworks. The film was released August 4, 2001 at the Urbanworld Film Festival, October 19, 2001 at the Hamptons International Film Festival and in limited theatrical release in the United States on October 11, 2002.

Rickey Minor, who has been musical director for Whitney Houston, Yolanda Adams and many others, and is currently the musical director on American Idol, produced the film’s soundtrack. Terron Brooks, who stars as Brian Tate, performs on the soundtrack, as well as Renee Elise Goldsberry, who stars as Nicole. She wrote four songs for the film: the title song, “All About You,” “Simple,” “Soon,” and the film’s final song, “Surprise.”

Plot

Nicole is in love with her boyfriend Robbie and is ready to start talking about marriage. Unfortunately for her, he hasn’t even thought about a future with her. She moves to San Francisco to start a new life, and ends up with Robbie’s brother Brian as her roommate for one month. Just as Nicole and Brian realize they have feelings for each other, Robbie wants to try a relationship with Nicole again. Can Nicole go back with him or is she willing to leave room in her life “for the surprises,” as Brian urges her to do?
