S-type star
A star with spectral type S is a late-type giant star (class K5–M) whose spectrum displays bands from zirconium oxide. It may also have features from cyanogen, lithium, technetium, and other fifth-period oxides such as yttrium oxide. Most of these stars are long-period variables.
