Signate

Signate

Signate is a provider of open sourcebased VoIP pbx and switch systems for thousands of users.

Signate provides solutions for service providers, contact centers and enterprise users.

History

Signate founder and CTO Paul Mahler learned about open source voice over IP telephony from a neighbor in 2003. Paul had helped the UNIX operating system restructure the minicomputer market in the 1990s and he saw immediately that open source VoIP software running on industry standard hardware had the same potential to restructure the telephone equipment market.

With the encouragement of friends, Mahler spent more than a year working with the technology and writing VoIP Telephony with Asterisk, the first book that attempts to explain how open source telephony works. The book was released in July, 2004, and immediately became a technical best seller.

With the release of the book, Signate began developing software for the PBX and telephony service provider markets.

Signate has filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy as of November 7, 2006
