Garance Franke-Ruta

Garance Franke-Ruta is a national web politics editor/producer for the Washington Post. She was previously a senior editor at the American Prospect as well as a senior writer at the Washington City Paper, D.C.'s alternative weekly newspaper. Her work has also appeared in The Washington Monthly, The New Republic, Salon, Legal Affairs, Washington Business Forward, Utne Reader and National Journal, and is also a frequent diavlog participant with other political and current event journalists on She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1997.


The name "Garance" is a french word referring to a shade of red and is the name of the main character in Les Enfants du Paradis. Franke-Ruta is the cousin of Ted Frank.
