Running on Ice was the second album by
Vertical Horizon, released independently in 1995, and later re-released by
RCA Records. As with the band's first album,
There and Back Again, the band consisted solely of
Matthew Scannell and
Keith Kane. This time around, though, there were many guest musicians who contributed to various songs, notably
Jack O'Neill and
Cary Pierce of
Jackopierce, and
Carter Beauford of the
Dave Matthews Band.
This album contains the only Vertical Horizon song to date credited to someone who is not Matt or Keith (Kelly Moylan, Matt's girlfriend at the time, wrote the words to "Falling Down"), and "Famous" was the only song to be credited to both Matt and Keith.
Heart in Hand was featured in the movie, The New Guy.
