Simsapa tree

The Simsapa tree is mentioned in the Wisdom Publicatios Edition of the Pali Scripture: Samyutta Nikaya 56 Saccasamyutta 31(1) Simsapa Grove Sutta: The Buddha compares a few leaves in his hand with the number of leaves overhead in the forest to illustrate what he teaches and what he does not teach. Scientific name:Dalbergia sissoo This is a rosewood tree common to India and southeast Asia. There is another South Asian tree also termed "Simsapa" It is the Amherstia nobilis of the Family Caesalpiniaceae.
