Emodin (from Rheum emodi, a Himalayan rhubarb)
- 1. A purgative resin, 6-methyl-1,3,8-trihydroxyanthraquinone, from rhubarb and the buckthorn.
- 2. Any one of a series of principles isomeric with the emodin of rhubarb.
- aloe emodin (1,3,8-trihydroxyanthraquinone) — a variety of emodin found in Socotrine, Barbados, and Zanzibar aloes, but not in Natal aloes.
