Early Life & Education
David Shafer was born in San Antonio, Texas to Stuart R. Shafer and Christine L. Shafer. At the age of 2, the Shafer family moved to East Lansing, Michigan where Stuart worked as a city Prosecutor while Christine attended Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. David attended Pinecrest Elementary School followed by Hannah Middle School and East Lansing High School. He then moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan to attend The University of Michigan studying Honors Biology. Following college, David attended his mother's alma mater, Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, for medical school. He was selected for a General Surgery Internship and Residency at Maricopa Medical Center and the Arizona Burn Center under Maricopa Integrated Health System in Phoenix, Arizona for five years. David was then selected for a plastic surgery residency at the world famous Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for two years. David was then selected for the prestigious aesthetic surgery fellowship at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital in New York City, under the direction of Sherrell Aston.

In publication for 2008/2009, Dr. Shafer has written a chapter and produced a DVD on Botulinum Toxin (Botox) injection techniques, written a chapter and produced a DVD on facelift techniques, and written a chapter on anesthesia for plastic surgery patients.
Awards
Dr. Shafer was honored as the Intern of the Year, the Rick Weimar Ambassador of Medical Ethics, and given the Harry W. Hale, Jr. Surgery Award as a graduating chief resident.

Dr. David Shafer operates at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital and Lenox Hill Hospital. He specializes in facelift, rhinoplasty, breast lift/augmentation, abdominoplasty, liposuction & fat grafting.
