neck and neck race

Egg and spoon race

An egg and spoon race is a sporting event in which participants must carry an egg on a small spoon and race to the finish line without dropping the egg.

In many schools, the egg and spoon race takes place on Sports Day, alongside other events such as the sack race and three legged race.

Synthetic or hard-boiled eggs have been used in recent years because of fears that the accidental consumption of a smashed raw egg could lead to illnesses such as salmonella.
