He worked for several years as book editor (at Chatto and Windus, Weidenfeld & Nicolson and Michael O'Mara Books). Since 2000 he is full-time writer. He published several crime novels playing during the 1930s and reporting the adventures of Lord Edward Corinth and Verity Browne.
