Monument is a rapidly growing Statutory Town in El Paso County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,971 at the 2000 census. Is is named after the Monument Creek that rises north of Monument in adjacent Palmer Lake.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 4.6 square miles (12 km²), all of it land.
Monument, Colorado is located at about 7,000 feet above sea level. Average high temperatures in the summer reach 85 degrees Fahrenheit, while the average winter low temperature is 12 degrees Fahrenheit. Occasionally extreme temperatures do occur for about a week or so each year with temps reaching 100 degrees in summer or -30 degrees in winter. The record high and low temps are 101 degrees and -38 degrees. Monument gets about 100 inches of snowfall per year with the first snow being around early October and the last being mid May.
