Moneta, Ernesto Teodoro

Moneta, Ernesto Teodoro, 1833-1918, Italian editor and pacifist; winner of the 1907 Nobel Peace Prize. He joined the movement for Italian unification, serving (1859-66) with Garibaldi. From 1867 he devoted himself to the cause of peace, editing the daily Secolo. He was president (1906) of the International Peace Congress in Milan.
Ernesto Teodoro Moneta (Milan September 20, 1833February 10, 1918) was an Italian journalist who fought in the Expedition of the Thousand and subsequently became an international peace activist, despite his strong Italian nationalism. He won (with Louis Renault) the Nobel Peace Prize in 1907.
