Thomas Andrews (metallurgist)

Thomas Andrews (died 1871), was a metallurgist of international renown.

His experiments on fatigue and fracture at Wortley Top Forge led to the manufacture of railway axles of internationally reputed quality. It is said that no axle manufactured by Andrews at Wortley ever failed.
