The average household size was 3.60 and the average family size was 3.91.
In the city the population was spread out with 34.1% under the age of 18, 11.6% from 18 to 24, 27.7% from 25 to 44, 16.6% from 45 to 64, and 10.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The Nation's Christmas Tree City
In 1949, the city of Sanger was designated the "Nation's Christmas Tree City" by the U.S. Postal Service.
Music and Arts
In downtown Sanger is a mural of German born actress Nastassja Kinski. This was created in 1982 by Sanger native artist Jose Maro Alvarado now residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. The artist attended Sanger High School in the 70's and then went to UC Santa Barbara where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts. He has been working and showing his art ever since. He is currently creating gum Arabic paintings and showing them internationally.
Music has brought a great deal of popularity for Sanger CA. Multiple bands and artist have represented and showcased their music throughout California and nationally. A music group called The Assassins composed of the member X (Bernardo B), Chillz (Steven E), Aroe (Ricky P), and others have represented Sanger and have been heard playing throughout California to as far as Arizona and Texas. More Bands from various rock genres have also showcased their skills in many places. Sean Munoz, lead singer of the rock band Until April
, was also born and raised in Sanger.
Sanger High School
Sanger's high school is a medium-large school. The school's mascot is an Apache. About 350 students graduate from Sanger High each year.
Sanger High School moved into a new facility at 1045 Bethel Avenue during the 2000 school year. The school received a California Distinguished High School Award for their academic improvement during the 2004-2005 school year. Dan Chacon is the current principal of Sanger High School. The Apache football team receives a great amount of fan support, along with their head coach Chuck Shidan.
