Martynia (syn. Holoregmia Nees in the Pedaliaceae family, accordingly from International Plant Names Index) is a flowering plant genus in the Martyniaceae family.
One species, Martynia proboiscidea ("unicorn plant"), bears pointed fruits vaguely resembling cornichons in appearance. During the 1870's in the United States, a popular fad was to pickle these fruits and use them in lieu of cucumber pickles.
Martynia is not a cucurbit, however.
