The Lily

The Lily is a poem written by the English poet William Blake. It was published as part of his collection Songs of Experience in 1794.

The Poem

The modest Rose puts forth a thorn,
The humble sheep a threat’ning horn:
While the Lily white shall in love delight,
Nor a thorn nor a threat stain her beauty bright.
