Labial-palatal approximant

The labial-palatal approximant is a type of consonantal sound, used in some spoken languages. The symbol in the International Phonetic Alphabet that represents this sound is ɥ, and the equivalent X-SAMPA symbol is H. It can be thought of as labialized [j] ([jʷ]), or as the semivocalic counterpart of the close front rounded vowel [y].
