Kate Gosselin is the famous mother of eight children, twins and sextuplets, from the hit reality show Jon and Kate Plus 8. She and her family received national fame when the show aired in 2005. She is now divorced and is a single mother and legal guardian to her eight children.
Kate grew up in Pennsylvania with her parents and four siblings. She pursued a nursing degree where she worked as a registered nurse at Reading Hospital until her departure in 2004. Due to difficulty conceiving naturally, she and Jon decided to try fertility treatment to get pregnant. She gave birth to twin girls, Mady and Cara. Several years later, they decided to have one more baby via the same technique. This time, she was expecting sextuplets. She gave birth to three boys and three girls, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel.
Kate and Jon received an offer to star in a special episode, which would showcase their normal, everyday lives as a family on national television. In 2005, Surviving Sextuplets and Twins aired on Discovery Health. Due to their immense popularity and high ratings, they received a show called Jon & Kate Plus 8, which would later move to TLC. Kate got a taste of success, celebrity treatment, fame and fortune. After many seasons, her personal relationship with Jon began to crumble. They announced their separation in 2009.
After separating, Jon voiced his negative opinions regarding media and television exposure of his young children. He decided to leave the show, demanding that his children do so as well. Kate refused and later, she received her own show without Jon called Kate Plus 8 in 2009. The show did not receive high ratings and was cancelled later that year.
Although she is no longer with Jon and has voiced comments regarding being lonely and sad, she continues to strive to be a good single mother for her eight children. To read more about Kate Gosselin, visit her fanpage at http://kategosselinfansite.com/.
