On 20 June 2008, a photo-album, coffee-table book titled ‘Raj Bhavan of Kolkata – A Photographic Tour’ with photographs taken by Anirban Mitra (a Calcutta based young photographer) has been released at Raj Bhavan (West Bengal), Kolkata in presence of Shri Gopalkrishna Gandhi, The Honourable Governor of West Bengal. Distinguished personalities of Kolkata, press and media were present. Eminent speakers spoke on the history and heritage of Raj Bhavan and Calcutta.
Soumitra Chatterjee is a veteran, National Award winning actor and the hero of World-Renowned Oscar Winning film-maker Satyajit Ray’s Apu Trilogy. Anirban has extensively worked with the famous actor for close to 2 years as a photographer during his rehearsals, stage performances & shootings. The images captured are dramatic, stunning and with rare vividness and intimateness in approach.
Art and Craft of The Durga Puja Festival of India
This is one of the very early works of the photographer. He completed this detailed & disciplined documentary of the entire creative process concerning the Durga Puja from end to end. The documentary also covers the various moods of the Celebration & the Finale. The project showcases one of the finest of Indian Arts in its making process through the Art of Photography.
Photo-Documentary on Heritage Buildings and Sites of ‘Burdwan'
Burdwan is a Historic Place in eastern India in the state of West Bengal. Anirban designed the documentary & took the photographs. The work has been presented to His Excellency Shri Gopalkrishna Gandhi, the Governor of West Bengal. The work was commissioned by The West Bengal Heritage Commission.
