Holeproof is an American company founded by Carl Freschl who began experimenting with
hosiery in his family store in
Kalamazoo,
Michigan. His father, Philip Freschl, had purchased a small loom in 1872 to allow him to make hosiery. He had little success with the loom and it was soon banished to a quiet corner. However, young son Carl was fascinated by the loom and eventually succeeded in producing a stocking. The company grew rapidly and Carl Freschl shifted his operation to
Milwaukee. The company became known for its high-quality, light, and durable hose. Today, Holeproof remains one of the world's best known brands with manufacturing in many countries.
