Hodoscope

Hodoscope

A hodoscope (from the Greek for "path viewer") is a scientific instrument which detects charged elementary particles, in particular, ionising cosmic particles. Scintillator paddles emit light when particles strike them. This light is amplified, then detected by circuitry which counts the total number of flashes over some period of time.
