U.S.A.. Having trained at the
University of Calgary in
Calgary,
Canada and
Stanford University in
Palo Alto,
California, he is a leading researcher in the field of exploration seismology specializing in the application of
interpolation theory to complex seismic data. He has published many papers and made several presentations at the
Society of Exploration Geophysicists dealing with charting
subsurface images of the earth using algorithms to predict what a regular sampling of data would have created. He is also credited with starting the
Mall Crawl tradition within the
Stanford University School of Earth Sciences.
