It was the first UHF station to introduce subscription TV, wherein viewers pay a monthly fee to unscramble its signals. The main attraction for its service at the time is the flexibility of the viewer to set up the decoder and the accompanying outdoor antenna used to receive the signal. At that time, cable television was just making a revival in a big way through Sky Cable.
Regular encrypted TV service of Channel 68 started in January 2003. However, 6 months after, it folded up due to intense competition from cable. The station is currently inactive.
