Business for New Europe

Business for New Europe (BNE) is a London-based independent coalition of business leaders articulating a case for reform in Europe. BNE was launched in 2006 to support the UK's active engagement in Europe and a reformed, enlarged and free-market EU. BNE is guided by the following principles:

- Support the UK’s membership of the EU and oppose withdrawal to the margins; support positive and constructive engagement with the EU as the only sensible approach and as vital to our national interests.

- Support a vision of a prosperous free-market Europe able to compete in a globalised world. We support economic liberalisation and oppose excessive EU regulation, centralisation and red tape.

- Support institutional reform, further cooperation between EU member states where it is in Britain's interests and oppose old-fashioned federalism.

- Support the enlargement of the EU including Turkey, and recognise the benefits that the recent wave of enlargement have brought.

BNE’s Chairman is Roland Rudd - the Senior Partner of Finsbury Public Relations, and its Vice-Chairs include Lord Jay of Ewelme, Sir Stephen Wall, Dr Isabella Moore CBE and Will Tanner. BNE frequently publishes articles and letters in the media, and organises conferences/seminars. Speakers at recent events have included Prime Minister Gordon Brown MP, Foreign Secretary David Miliband MP, John Gummer MP and Charles Kennedy MP.
