Dismals Canyon
Dismals Canyon is a sandstone gorge in Franklin County, Alabama. It is a National Natural Landmark.
Dismals Canyon is one of only a few places where an insect called dismalites ("Orfelia fultoni", a type of "Arachnocampa_luminosa)" can be found. These insects emit a bright blue-green light to attract food and mates. They cover the canyon wall.
