Deer Tick

Deer Tick is the band name of guitarist and singer-songwriter John McCauley's rock Super Group. It began as McCauley's solo project in December 2004. Within a few years he had acquired a strong following through constant touring in parts of the Northeast and self-released CD-Rs.

Christopher Dale Ryan (bassist) and Dennis Ryan (drummer who replaced Paul "Meatball" Marandola) became official members of Deer Tick in mid-2007. James Falzone played electric piano with Deer Tick off and on from 2006 to 2007.

Deer Tick's music has often been described as a combination of folk, blues, and country with a strong grunge influence. McCauley is known for his distinct gruff-sounding voice.

The group released its first studio album War Elephant to mostly favorable reviews on September 4, 2007.

Lead guitarist Andrew Tobiassen joined the band in August of 2008. "Andy T" was discovered washing dishes at Panama City's acclaimed MargaritaVille. In between his 6 hour work "Andy T" was found "workin' on his chops" and drinking his drink of choice Smirnoff Ice. "Andy T" heard Deer Tick on his beat up tube radio and knew at that moment the "Rock n' Roll Life" was for him. "Andy T" sent a demo of his tunes to John McCauley along with Hawaian shirt. The gesture of the shirt really caught McCauley's eye. He flew down to Panama City on the first Grey Hound and the rest is "Rock n' Roll" history.
