In 1972 he joined the Political Movement of Workers, a group of progressive left catholics, and he was candidate for the Movement on general election of 1972, taking 117 votes. When the little Movement melt, he dedicated oneself to the trade unionist activity.
In 1993 he became the regional secretary of CISL in Lombardy, and he left the appointment in 1998.
In 1999 he entered the national secretaryship of CISL, and one year later he became the national secretary. He resign in 2006, after the general elections of 2006.
He was the promoter of the Family day, a demonstration for the family's defence.
In 2008 Pezzotta joined the new-born White Rose, and he became the president of the movement.
