Dalmanutha

Dalmanutha, in the New Testament, a place, probably on the W shore of the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus came apparently to be tempted by the Pharisees. In a parallel passage it is mentioned as Magadan. The place is unidentified, and Dalmanutha may have resulted from the misreading of Magadan or Magdala.
Dalmanutha is the unknown destination of Jesus on the shores of the Sea of Gallilee after he fed the four thousand, as recorded in Mark's gospel, (). It is sometimes believed to be in the vicinity of Magdala, the home town of Mary Magdalene, since the parallel passage in Matthew's gospel, , refers instead to "Magadan", which has been taken to be a variant from of "Magdala".
