Examples of congregations include:

• Those gathered for worship on a particular occasion, or those who habitually attend a place of worship
• A church, synagogue, temple, or other organized religious community
• Congregation (Roman Curia) - an administrative body of the Roman Catholic Church
• Congregation (Catholic) - a religious institute in which only simple vows, not solemn vows, are taken
• Congregation (university) - an assembly of senior members of a university
• Congregation (human geography) - the territorial and residential clustering of specific groups or subgroups of people
