Antoine Magnol (1676 -
March 10,
1759) was a French
physician and
botanist who was born in
Montpellier. He was the son of famed botanist
Pierre Magnol (1638-1715), whom he replaced as chair at the
University of Montpellier in 1715. Antoine Magnol held this position at
Montpellier in an official capacity until his death in 1759.
He is largely known for his posthumous edition of his father's works, which included the 1720 publication of Novus caracter plantarum. Written works by Antoine Magnol include:
